Preparing your car for sale
You want to get the highest amount of money as possible if you are going to sell your car. You’ll need to have your car looking and sounding its’ best to increase your chances of attracting a potential buyer who will pay you the amount you think your car is worth, above book value. The very first thing you need to do is, naturally, meticulously detail both the interior and the exterior of the car. This should be a much more thorough detailing than you would do on you regular car care monthly cleaning. You should include applying a fresh coat of wax and polishing your car, for that ‘new car’ shine. Include a good odor remover in the interior. Polish the seats with suitable leather or vinyl cleaner and shiner. Clean the windows and mirrors with streak and lint free cloths. If at all possible, have a copy of the history check available to show to prospective buyers. Be confident when selling your car. This will show to interested parties that you are positive that it will be a reliable and worthy purchase for them and that you have given your car care and maintenance as you owned it.
If you can afford to do so, take your car to a reputable car repair shop and have the car inspected. Be prepared to pay for any necessary repairs prior to selling your car. This will show buyers the best car care possible had been provided. Present the inspection decree to potential buyers, as well, along with any car repair receipts or slips and any or all warranties that come with your car or car parts.
Remember, the buyer is basically thinking of three things before purchasing a used car. Has the car been maintained appropriately? Has the car had necessary car repairs and service regularly? And, has the car been provided with proper car care?
